Triple Olivier Award winner Roger Allam, one of the finest Shakespearean actors of his generation, and Olivier Award nominee Freddie Fox, one of Britain’s most exciting young actors, lead a repertory company in this double bill combining Shakespeare’s most powerful tragedy and his most beautiful and accessible history play.

KING LEAR

"How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child!"

When King Lear (Roger Allam) gives up his crown in favour of his three daughters, he triggers a civil war which tears his country apart. As the royal family disintegrates, the villainous Edmund (Freddie Fox) seizes his chance for glory. Siblings turn on siblings, children turn on fathers and a country turns against itself.

Tom Littler directs for the Orange Tree Theatre following their recent Bath productions of The Rivals, Suite in Three Keys and The Circle.
