Opportunity. Practice. Experience. Network.
Paid talent development scheme for emerging underrepresented creatives
Openstart is The Egg's new talent development initiative, designed to support the next generation of underrepresented theatre-makers in the south –west through paid employment, creative practice, mentoring and professional development. We welcome applications from global majority creatives who are currently disproportionately underrepresented in the theatre industry.
We believe talent is everywhere, but opportunity isn't always equally accessible. Our Openstart Scheme has been created to help address that by offering meaningful, paid opportunities within a professional producing theatre.
Whether you're taking your first steps into the industry or looking to build on existing experience, our Openstart scheme provides the chance to develop your skills alongside experienced theatre professionals while contributing to ambitious creative work at The Egg.
The Openstart Scheme currently offers one full time 12-month fixed term salaried Creative Learning Trainee role, alongside paid Creative Associate and Creative Traineeship development pathways taking place at various times throughout the year.
OPEN START is funded by The Garek Charitable Trust and HandSpark Charitable Trust
Who is Open Start for?
Our Open Start scheme is designed for emerging and established creatives who are looking to develop their careers within theatre and the wider creative industries.
Using positive action, we aim to diversify our workforce.
Whether you're developing your first professional experience or refining an established creative practice, we'd love to hear from you.
