Not Just One Life, But Yours and Mine

Not just One Life, but Yours and Mine
“A thousand threads that intertwine, not just one life, but yours and mine”
This is a beautiful phrase from a belting choral ensemble piece in our community play. It blossomed from a meeting of minds by the cast and creatives during the joyful development of the David Copperfield story during 2025.
The thousand threads echo the wonderful neurodiversity, age range and cosmopolitan community involved in this production. They represent the multiple themes of life, death, sadness, joy and love that pervade the story and our lives. They also represent the amazing work by the cast, creative team, Theatre Royal Bath and volunteers, who are intertwined with all aspects of the production, including the costumes where thousands of threads have already been sewn!
It's been a joy to see this rich tapestry grow and flourish through the seasons as all the colour-named groups from our Rainbow Ensemble have added the colour and vibrancy of their scenes to it. We all participated in taster workshops throughout Bath in early Spring, developed the play together with our magnificent creatives until August and started to rehearse in the Autumn.
At the end of 2025, we have our hopes for 2026 festooned on a Christmas tree and in the spirit of being open, brave and generous, we look forward to deepening our togetherness in the intense period of rehearsals at the beginning of the new year, leading up to the opening night on 20th February!
Best wishes, Steve Rea
