Moments in Rehearsals

You learn something new every day, mostly unnoticed, fleeting, and unremarkable. Sometimes you learn a lot in a day, things that stick in your mind. And very occasionally you learn something which gives you an unexpected insight into how someone else experiences the world. Even though it may be a glimpse. And it changes you, a nudge, a little bit. The David Copperfield Research and Development workshops revealed some moments for me.
I have been surprised.
In a joyful and playful way.
An inkling of what was to come was in the first taster workshop, before we even signed-up for the show. The summer of 2025 was hot, and sunshine streamed through the windows of Twerton Village Hall, a place I had never been before, so that was a first. There were several deaf people in our group using British Sign Language which was another first for me. There was an exuberant, open and mischievous energy to this session.
I knew then that the process, the R&D, the rehearsals, would be as revealing and rewarding as appearing on the stage.
