Hello From Simon

“I love people. I love theatre. I love that I have learnt something new in every production that I have ever been involved in. I love the ethos of this production”.  

These are words from my online application for David Copperfield: A Life.  

Well, I am in.  And I am all in. I have a part in the cast, and I have also offered to do this; write about what it’s like to be part of this production. 

Over the coming months I plan to record my personal voyage with the creative team and with my one hundred-plus fellow cast members in this astonishing community project. 

This is my first attempt at writing something like this, so I am not sure how it’s going to go and right now it feels a little bit daunting.  Exciting, absolutely, but a bit scary. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained, so I am going to see how it goes.  I am sure that there will be lots to give me inspiration to write about as we go on this journey together.  As Mr Micawber famously says, “Something will turn up”.
