A group for anyone wanting to learn more about all things related to Backstage and technical theatre. With sessions ranging from lighting theatre to set design and everything in between. Members will explore key skills, techniques and approaches to backstage theatre, and gain a better understanding of the backstage careers available to them. Practical sessions and hands-on tutorials led by industry professionals will enable members to explore their creativity in a fun and inclusive environment.

Summer term dates: w/c 13th May – 13th July.
Throughout the term we will be exploring theatre’s relationship with environmentalism and its potential to address environmental and climatic challenges.
We will be asking:
• What is our responsibility to the world we live in?
• How can we use theatre as a tool for change?
• What impact can our creativity make on those around us?
Our backstage group will be led by an industry professional to create and curate a series of workshops, installations and exhibitions exploring the relationship between theatre and the environment.
Members will be introduced to key techniques and approaches to sustainability, encouraged to explore their creativity and interrogate the ways technical theatre, design and the backstage careers can make an impact.
Work created in the sessions will be presented at our end of term TRBTS building take over. A full day of performances, workshops and exhibitions all created and led by TRBTS members, inviting members of the public to hear our young people’s voice.
