The summer holidays are LOOOONG.

Why not dedicate a week to come and experiment with making a play.

If you’re excited by performance or interested in the inner workings of theatre, this is the week for you.

Over the course of the week you will look at the fundamentals of building a piece of theatre, from initial concept ideas through to a presentation of your work.

This week-long project is the perfect accompaniment to GCSE studies, or for those who have a keen interest in Drama.

This summer we will be bringing together a group of extraordinary young people for a week of creating, rehearsing and performing.

The week will be based at the Award Winning Theatre for young audiences The Egg which is part of Theatre Royal Bath. Our Youth Theatre has been resident at TRB for over 30 years, and every year becomes more and more ambitious. We aim to explore the fundamentals of drama in an engaging, inclusive and exciting way.

Led by a professional director and a team of technicians, the group will start with a theme and then work as a theatre troupe to create all aspects of the play in just 5 days.

Previous leaders have directed shows in the West End and in New York, and want the chance to work with the next generation of theatre makers.

At the end of the week, this brand new work will be brought to life for an audience on stage, with lights and sound, and a whole load of stagecraft.

Skills developed:

- Understanding the making of professional theatre
- Advanced theatre making and devising techniques
- Advanced character development and performance skills
- Developing critical thinking and analytical skills
- Understanding style and genre

How the week will look:

- Timings: 10am - 4pm with an hour break for lunch.
- Friday: performance day with tech and dress rehearsals for both groups running that week and both groups performing during the showcase.
- Parents, guardians and friends will be invited to the final performance.

We believe cost should not impact a young person’s ability to access the arts. Therefore, we offer bursaries for those who require financial support. Should you require a bursary, please email [email protected] for an application and to reserve your place while this is being processed.
