Event Information

Performed on Sat 25 Jan

Walter & Lenny traces the friendship of Dean Walter Hussey, Dean of Chichester Cathedral,  prolific patron of the arts, and one of the twentieth century’s most influential composers, musician and humanist, Leonard Bernstein. The fruit of this extraordinary, perhaps unlikely, friendship resulted in the masterpiece, Chichester Psalms, one of the most performed works in the choral repertoire today.

Peter McEnery is a renowned film and stage actor who has played many leading roles for the RSC.

“A wonderful, touching, and insightful play … Peter’s tour-de-force performance as both my father, Leonard Bernstein, and Dean Walter Hussey manages deftly to capture both men’s characters without resorting to impersonation” Alexander Bernstein
