Twenty years after the death of a rich eccentric, his descendants gather at his remote mansion to learn who will inherit his vast fortune and hidden jewels. At midnight on a dark and stormy night, the old family lawyer opens the will.

The heir is named with the stipulation that they can only inherit if proved to be of sound mind – but spending the night in this terrifying place is enough to turn anyone insane…

Following the success of Rehearsal For Murder and The Lady Vanishes, The Classic Thriller Company returns with this creepy comedy thriller from 1922 by John Willard.

The play has been adapted into several movies, notably the 1927 silent film (which was one of the earliest Universal Horror movies), a 1930 sound remake of the latter, the 1939 version starring Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard, and a 1979 British version with Olivia Hussey.

“Gripping, intriguing and quick-witted” The Bath Magazine ”

As tightly-paced and wistfully cinematic as Hitchcock’s serpentine original, this new adaptation hits all the marks and then some” Swindon Advertiser

“Roy Marsden’s strong direction creates a rare gem of a comedy thriller which ticks all the right boxes” Bath Chronicle
