Event Information

8pm

Running time: 1 hour 35 minutes

Fri 25 — Sat 26 Mar

Nisha is a young hotshot executive working for Golden Fields, Australia’s largest producer of rice and determined to become the first female Indian CEO in Australia.

Yvette, an older Chinese migrant, is the cleaner who sees to Nisha’s desk and has her own entrepreneurial ambitions.

Together they form a powerful – if unlikely – bond as they navigate the complexities of their lives and the world at large.

RICE explores migrants of different generations and the complex relationships they forge with their new home – and with each other. It is a play about ambition, family and the unlikely friendship between a hotshot executive and the office cleaner. RICE is brought to you by the acclaimed Actors Touring Company and Orange Tree Theatre in association with Theatre Royal Plymouth. RICE is directed by ATC Artistic Director Matthew Xia (One Night in Miami, Sizwe Banzi is Dead, The Wiz).
