Mr Bear can’t sleep. Mrs Bear is snoring. So he goes to sleep in Baby Bear’s room. But Baby Bear is pretending to be an aeroplane. So he goes to sleep in the living room…

Olivier award-winning OperaUpClose team up with Gallions Primary School in Newham to create this new opera based on Jill Murphy’s much-loved picture book, which has been delighting families for generations. Performed in a new composition for three singers, accompanied by harp and woodwind.

Running time: approximately 30 minutes, followed by playtime.

A booking fee of 50p per ticket applies

  • Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • The recommended age ranges are for your guide only. We suggest you stick as closely to them as possible for the benefit of other audience members.
  • Lap seats are available at £1.50 (including booking fee) for infants aged 0 – 6 months;  all patrons including infants must have a valid ticket. 
  • All bookings will incur a Booking Fee of 50p per ticket regardless of whether the booking is made in person at our Box Office, by post, by phone or online and applies to all payment types.

Opera Up Close

OperaUpClose is an ambitious, Olivier Award-winning opera company, producing innovatively staged, unintimidating, affordable and – crucially – high quality English chamber re-imaginings of well-known works and premieres of new operas. We are an associate artist at The Old Church, an associate company of Soho Theatre and co-produce with the Belgrade Theatre Coventry, Tricycle Theatre, Kings Place and Malmö Opera (Sweden). We tour across the UK as well as some international engagements.

PLEASE NOTE: Print At Home tickets are only valid as A4 printouts. We cannot currently accept tickets presented on phones/tablets.

Relaxed Performances – Open to everyone, but specifically adapted for children with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, individuals with sensory and communication disorders, those with learning disabilities and anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed environment.
