Friedrich Schiller’s political tragedy takes us behind the scenes of some of British history’s most crucial days. Two of the UK’s leading actors reprise their acclaimed performances, playing both Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart. Juliet Stevenson (Truly, Madly, Deeply) and Lia Williams (Oresteia) trade the play’s central roles, decided at each performance by the toss of a coin.

In a new adaptation created by Robert Icke

Juliet Stevenson and Lia Williams reprise their acclaimed performances, playing both Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart, as they trade the two central roles, decided at the start of each performance by the toss of a coin. The cast also features Carmen Munroe OBE (Desmond’s, Doctor Who, Moon On A Rainbow Shawl), Rudi Dharmalingam (The Split, Our Girl) and Elliot Levey (Man Down, Da Vinci’s Demons, Jamaica Inn). Also reprising their roles from the original Almeida production and West End transfer are David Jonsson, John Light, Eileen Nicholas and Daniel Rabin. The cast is completed by Christopher Colquhoun, Michael Byrne, and Calum Finlay, all of whom performed in Mary Stuart in the West End.

 

Box Office is open from 10am – 8pm Monday – Saturday.

Doors open 30 minutes prior to the performance, unless otherwise stated.

All tickets for Main House productions include a £2 building levy.

There is a lift for wheelchair users from the Theatre foyer to the Stalls and Royal Circle levels. The Dress Circle and Grand Circle are stair access only.
