Introduction to Virtual Reality Theatre

Event Information

Date: Tue 15 and Tue 22 June

Time: 6pm-7pm

What might the future of theatre look like?

How might we interact with it?

How might we make it?

Join designer, director, performer and theatre-maker, Naomi Smyth, who’ll be introducing you to the world of Virtual Reality (VR) Theatre. How is VR theatre different from theatre in real life? And how can we connect the two to make an even more powerful experience?

Over two sessions, you’ll dive headlong into the possibilities presented by VR, whilst understanding some of the techniques and ideas used by successful VR practitioners before creating your own VR world using Mozilla’s Hubs.

Finally, immersed in a simple VR space, Naomi will direct you in a number of performance-based exercises to demonstrate the possibilities of making theatre in a virtual world.

(NB. You do not need a VT headset or any other kit beyond a laptop/desktop computer to participate.)
