Hansel & Gretel

  • 20 - 23 February

Event Information

11.30am & 3pm

Relaxed performance on Fri at 3pm

Running time: 60 mins

A modern retelling of this classic fairytale finds Hansel and Gretel overwhelmed by the sights and smells of the city. Our two heroes must tackle situations that would have the bravest of adults shaking in their boots as they find their way home in a show that celebrates children’s tenacity.

Vicki Igbokwe, choreographer and founder of Uchenna Dance (The Head Wrap Diaries), will bring an Uchenna twist to this well-known tale, weaving her fierce and distinctive New York club styles, house, waacking and vogue, with African and Contemporary dance.

Expect to groove in your seat in a show that will transport you to a world far from yours with some surprising similarities.

£9/£8 children

A booking fee of 50p per ticket applies

11.30am & 3pm

A Relaxed Performance will take place on Fri at 3pm

Uchenna Dance was formed in January 2009 under the vision and leadership of choreographer Vicki Igbokwe shortly after she experienced a life-changing trip to New York.

Feeling like a fish out of water throughout her stay, whilst falling in love with the underground dance scene, Vicki was introduced to club styles House, Waacking and Vogue.

Emerging from that experience with a new-found confidence and feeling super empowered, entertained and educated, she returned to London inspired and encouraged to support others with their journeys, enabling them to be the best possible version of themselves.

Vicki’s love affair with New York only gets stronger over time and she has made several trips back to train and learn more about its rich culture and history.
