Hugh Dennis and Claire Skinner, from the BBC’s hugely popular Outnumbered, star alongside Mina Anwar (BBC’s The Thin Blue Line), all bringing their trademark quick-fire wit to Michael Frayn‘s Olivier Award winning comedy, Benefactors.

In the late 1960s, an era of neighbourly compassion and lofty visions, well-meaning middle-class couple, David and Jane, dive into two redevelopment projects. One, an architectural masterpiece in South London which climbs ever skyward, and another closer to home: David’s old university chum Colin and his wife Sheila, whose lives aren’t quite as desirable as their neighbours.

Sparking with sharp humour and political collisions, Benefactors is a funny and wryly shrewd look at the unforeseen outcomes of our best intentions.

Michael Frayn is the multi award-winning playwright and author best known for Olivier Award winning comedies Noises Off and Donkeys’ Years. His hit comedy Benefactors premiered in the West End in 1984, enjoying long-running success in London and on Broadway, winning a host of awards including the Olivier and Tony Awards for ‘Best Play’.

Hugh Dennis (David) and Claire Skinner (Jane) starred in the hugely popular BBC sitcom Outnumbered. Hugh’s many TV appearances include FleabagMy Hero, Mock The Week and Radio 4’s The Now Show. Claire’s extensive theatre work includes A Day in the Death of Joe Egg (West End), Nightfall (Bridge Theatre), Mrs Affleck and The Winter’s Tale (National Theatre).  Mina Anwar is best known for her role as Maggie Habib in the BBC’s The Thin Blue Line; her stage credits include the original West End cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
