One of the most popular fairy tales of all, Beauty & The Beast is the story of Belle who finds herself imprisoned in an enchanted castle by a prince who has been transformed into a hideous beast by an evil sorceress.
Can Belle see beyond the beast’s appearance and fall in love with her captor? Will the beast return to the world he once knew and win the hand of the girl who has melted his heart?
With a cast of larger than life characters, sidesplitting comedy, sumptuous costumes, fabulous scenery and a thrilling transformation scene, this traditional family pantomime is written by Jon Monie and won Best Script at the Great British Panto Awards 2019.
Acclaimed musical theatre star and panto performer, WENDI PETERS plays Fairy Bon-Bon. She is known for her roles as Cilla Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street, Cook Jenkins in Hetty Feather, and for White Christmas and, recently, Big in the West End. Much loved Bath comedian and panto legend JON MONIE is Louis La Plonk, following huge acclaim for his performance in Peter Pan in 2018. Jon revives his hilarious comedy partnership with NICK WILTON, EastEnders‘ Mr Lister and one of the best dames in the business, who makes a welcome return to Bath.
The roles of Beast and Prince are played by SHAUN DALTON, who previously starred at Bath’s Theatre Royal in both roles in the musical version of Beauty and the Beast in 2009 as part of a nationwide tour. Belle is played by CLARE MAYNARD, with experienced pantomime stars BEN HARLOWas Hugo Pompidou and MARCUS KNIBBS as Clement. Alongside the company of professional actors, this year’s pantomime again features the delightful young dancers from Bath’s DOROTHY COLEBORN SCHOOL OF DANCE.
