Agatha Christie: Queen of Crime

Event Information

Fri 25 Jun

Join Jane Tapley for a very special event to celebrate one hundred years since the publication of Agatha Christie’s first novel.

Undoubtedly the world’s greatest crime writer, Christie’s books still sell over four million copies worldwide and there is a continual demand for new TV and film adaptations of her work. The Queen of Crime and mystery led a sheltered and privileged life in her native Torquay. Her own life was not dissimilar to her books and some of her most famous characters, including Poirot and Miss Marple were created from real people she encountered on the English Riviera.

Jane Tapley, the Theatre Royal’s Special Events Organiser, regularly runs Agatha Christie weekends in Torquay and travels the world with this talk about Agatha Christie’s life, interests and what motivated a very shy woman to become our most famous writer.
