2017 Creative Fund Awards

The recipients of grants from the Creative Fund for 2017 are –

THEATRE BATH, who receive a grant which will provide a generator for the Theatre Bus project, a scheme which will see the Theatre Bus travel to towns and villages across the region, offering a new venue for performances, workshops and events.

CHANGING TUNES – a charity which uses music, songwriting and recording to help prisoners, young offenders and ex-prisoners with their rehabilitation. Some of their work could be heard as you were coming into the auditorium this evening, and their grant will go towards purchasing essential recording and sound equipment to continue their work.

SWALLOW, a Radstock-based charity working with learning disabled teenagers and young adults, receives a grant for The Enchanted Forest, a year-long multi-media workshop project which will culminate in an outdoor performance.

THE RONDO THEATRE in Larkhall, receives a grant to replace and update their sound and lighting equipment, much of which has been in place since the Rondo was reopened as a Theatre in 1996.

THE MEAD ACADEMY TRUST receives a contribution towards their larger project to install a standalone Art Studio for use by school pupils and the wider community at The Mead Primary School in Trowbridge.

BATH FILM FESTIVAL also receive a contribution towards their plans to purchase an inflatable cinema screen, which will give them more opportunity to offer outdoor film screenings at community events and in a wider variety of locations.

TROWBRIDGE TOWN HALL YOUTH ARTS receive a grant to install technical equipment into the Town Hall, improving the facilities for youth drama, dance and community groups which use the space on a regular basis.

BATH ABBEY receive a grant to curate and display artworks by local schoolchildren over the next three years, turning the hoardings which mask the work on the Abbey’s Footprint restoration project into Bath’s biggest outdoor art gallery.

BOWHILL INFANTS SCHOOL receive a contribution towards their Plays in the Playground project – a scheme to provide plays and workshops for pupils and the community across three schools in the Shepton Mallet area.
