Bath Spa University

Bath Spa University and Theatre Royal Bath are delighted to be working together in a Cultural Partnership in which the University is the Theatre’s official higher education partner.

The two organisations have a long history in Bath and this partnership builds upon existing and successful collaborations. In particular it provides:

  • Bath Spa students an opportunity to audition and perform in professional productions,
  • A number of technical theatre work placements each year for Bath Spa students,
  • New teaching and learning opportunities, and
  • A new MA in Theatre for Young Audiences.

The MA in Theatre for Young Audiences is a key element of this partnership. It builds on Bath Spa’s expertise in theatre production, performance and writing for young audiences. Students on the course will benefit from development training days at Theatre Royal Bath as well as the opportunity to work in a professional theatre environment at the egg.

Exposing children to the arts is an important part of their cultural development and this new MA will allow students to develop new theatre productions that are tailor made for this large and important audience.

Professor Christina Slade, Vice-Chancellor, Bath Spa University said: “Our long-standing relationship and natural affinity in theatre and performance means that together we can nurture innovative creativity in the performers, directors, writers and artists of the future.”
