A SEASON OF FRENCH-CANADIAN DRAMA - UK PREMIERE
Right Now (A Présent)
by Catherine-Anne Toupin, translated by Chris Campbell, directed by Michael Boyd
18 February - 19 March 2016
A Ustinov Studio, Traverse Theatre Company, and Bush Theatre Co-production
As Alice and Ben settle into their beautiful new flat they realise that the family across the hall hope to be more than just good neighbours.
Soon, Juliette, Gilles, and their son François are wearing out the welcome mat; suggesting drinks, hors d’oeuvres and dancing. When innocent invitations lead to passionate encounters and unsettling revelations, things take a distinct turn for the weird.
Written by award-winning Quebecois playwright Catherine-Anne Toupin, this thrilling dark comedy walks a delicate line between playful laughter and anxiety, teasing its audience with an increasing air of psychological suspense.
Michael Boyd returns to the Ustinov Studio to direct after previous successes with The Harvest and The Big Meal. Sir Michael was Artistic Director of the Royal Shakespeare Company from 2002-2012.
