Overview

On a summer's day in a home for retired musicians, three old friends are joking and reminiscing. Cecily, Wilfred and Reginald were once the brightest stars of the opera world and now they are looking forward to performing the quartet from Rigoletto to celebrate Verdi's birthday. But their tranquillity is about to be shattered by a surprise new arrival. Not only is Jean still something of a diva – she used to be married to Reggie!

A quartet of illustrious actors stars in this funny, touching and poignant play which explores the eccentricities of age, art and the human spirit before reaching a triumphant finale.

The cast includes Paul Nicholas (The Real Marigold Hotel, Cats, Just Good Friends), Wendi Peters (Coronation Street, Oh! What A Lovely War), Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses, The Green Green Grass, Calendar Girls) and Jeff Rawle (Harry Potter, Drop The Dead Donkey).

Oscar winning writer Ronald Harwood has been nominated for a raft of Tony and Olivier awards in a long and distinguished career. His play, The Dresser, recently completed a sold-out West End run.

Olivier award winner David Gilmore's numerous West End productions include Lend Me a Tenor, Daisy Pulls it Off , Grease and The Hired Man.

Quartet is produced by the team behind the hugely successful Jeeves & Wooster.
