Overview
How is it possible that three Victorian spinsters, living in isolation on the Yorkshire moors could have composed Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre, some of the most powerful and passionate fiction of all time?
It is 1845. Branwell Brontë, brother of Charlotte, Emily and Anne, returns home in disgrace. Plagued by alcohol and drug addiction, he has been dismissed from domestic service following an affair with the mistress of the house. As their brother descends into alcoholism and insanity, bringing chaos to the household, the sisters write…
Brontë beautifully evokes the real and imagined worlds of this extraordinary family, in a production in which the sisters’ fictional characters come to haunt their creators.
Exciting and accessible, Shared Experience has gained a national and international reputation for its highly physical interpretations of classic novels. using powerful dramatic performances and visual imagery. Brontë, Jane Eyre, A Passage to India, War & Peace and After Mrs Rochester (Evening Standard Award for Best Director and Time Out Award for Best West End Production) are amongst the company’s best loved works.
