Aladdin

Overview

Make tickets to see Aladdin one of your three wishes this Christmas...climb aboard a magic carpet and let the Theatre Royal take you on an amazing journey. The thrilling story of a boy, a lamp and a genie, Aladdin is one of the most popular pantomimes of all. Audiences are promised a traditional show packed with comedy, slapstick, singing, dancing, beautiful costumes and plenty of participation.

British Soap Award winner Bill Ward stars as the wicked magician, Abanazar. No stranger to playing Mr Nasty, he is well-known as baddie builder Charlie Stubbs in Coronation Street from 2003-2007, and as James Barton in Emmerdale, who recently left the show in one of soap's most dramatic storylines on the year. He played Abanazar in a recordbreaking panto in 2006.

The title role of Aladdin is played by Mark Rhodes, winner of the 2015 BAFTA Children’s Presenter Award as half of Sam & Mark, whose programmes include CBBC’s Big Friday Wind-Up and family gameshow, Copycats. Mark has also appeared on Dancing on Ice, Celebrity Wipeout and was a runner-up in Pop Idol.

Much-loved comedian Jon Monie returns by huge popular demand to play Wishee Washee; Nick Wilton, best known as Mr Lister in EastEnders, is back after last year’s acclaimed debut as Dame in Bath, to play Widow Twankey and Gemma Naylor from Go!Go!Go! on nickjr plays Princess Jasmine.
