Overview

WORLD PREMIERE PRODUCTION PRIOR TO WEST END

May 1940…

Downing Street…

Three days that will change the course of history…

Forever.

Ben Brown’s political thriller ventures behind the doors of Number Ten during three of the most pivotal days in British History, when, extraordinarily, giving in to Hitler was considered by some to be a ‘viable option’.

Having urgently assembled the British war cabinet, the new Prime Minister is suddenly confronted with an intense game of political chess as he tries to persuade peace treaty supporters, including Neville Chamberlain, that Britain must not give in. Divided on whether to negotiate terms through Mussolini or escalate the battle against fascism alone, one man has to make a monumental decision, which will shape the future of the free world…

Three Days in May, directed by Alan Strachan, embarks on a strictly limited national tour prior to the West End, which sees Warren Clarke return to the stage for the first time in over a decade, with Simon Ward and Jeremy Clyde.

One of the UKs most recognised and versatile actors, Warren Clarke has been starring on stage, television and the big screen for over four decades. His wide-ranging credits include, most recently, Jim Flynn in the BBC hit TV series In With The Flynns; three series of Down to Earth (starring opposite Pauline Quirke); Blackadder; Bleak House; The Invisibles; Coronation Street; and of course playing Dalziel in no less than 12 series of the multi-award-winning BBC TV hit Dalziel and Pascoe. His films include Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange and Clint Eastwood's Firefox.

Playing Lord Halifax will be Jeremy Clyde who has starred in films such as Doctor Zhivago, Kaspar Hauser and The Musketeer. His extensive TV credits include Downton Abbey, Ashes to Ashes and EastEnders. He is also well known as half of the 60’s singing duo “Chad and Jeremy” who had several big hits on both sides of the Atlantic. They recently celebrated 50 years of song writing.

The part of Neville Chamberlain will be played by Robert Demeger, who won the Manchester Evening News Best Actor Award for his portrayal of John Merrick in The Elephant Man. He has worked extensively with the Royal Shakespeare Company  National Theatre, Donmar Warehouse and Almeida. Robert is also known for starring as Arthur Kipps in The Woman in Black. His Films include Little Dorrit, Wuthering Heights, Orlando, Longitude and Secret Passage. Numerous television appearances range from Dalziel & Pascoe to Doctor Who, and he was most recently seen in BBC 2’s The Hour.
