PRIOR TO A WORLD TOUR
“An extraordinary show: Spellbinding, sophisticated and moving” - Sunday Times
Waves is a unique theatrical experience, a mesmerising and lyrical interpretation of one of the great novels of the 20th century. This hugely acclaimed, multi-media production is based on Virginia Woolf’s 1931 ground-breaking experiment in literary form, The Waves, a fragmented and dreamlike tale of friendship, loss, identity and love which takes six friends through life from childhood to late middle age.
Prior to a Bradway run, this is a chance to see the original National Theatre cast reprise this acclaimed production.
Katie Mitchell is one of the leading women directors working in British theatre today, much acclaimed for her work at the RSC and the National and for her powerfully atmospheric stagings of Greek tragedy and the work of major dramatists including Strindberg, Pinter and Chekhov.
“Theatre and video come together so seamlessly and complement each other so exquisitely it is as if Mitchell, her actors and video artist Leo Warner have created an entirely new art form…It is akin to having an out of body experience” - Guardian Unlimited
