New Year's Eve Gala
With Bath Philharmonia
Conducted by Jason Thornton
Wednesday 31st December
with Soprano Pippa Goss and
Clarinettist Sarah Williamson
New Years Eve at the Theatre Royal is now an annual feature in Bath’s cultural calendar. See out the old and bring in the new with a scintillating programme of popular classics, culminating in a Last Night of the Proms style finale. Bath Philharmonia, with Principal Conductor Jason Thornton, will be joined by two of Britain’s finest young musicians. Clarinettist Sarah Williamson was winner of the BBC’s Young Musician of the Year 2002 woodwind category and will perform Mozart’s hauntingly beautiful Clarinet Concerto. Joining her is the soprano Pippa Goss, winner of Bath’s Thelma King Vocal Prize.
A canapé reception with a glass of bubbly will be followed by a delicious pre-show dinner of roast vegetable terrine with a rough tapenade served with a selection of homemade breads; fillet of lamb on a sweet potato tatin with roasted garlic jus and a selection of seasonal vegetables (vegetarian option, which must be pre-booked : wild mushroom millefeuille with a mushroom sauce); a trio of desserts; freshly brewed coffee with petit fours.
