Carrie’s War is the unforgettable story of one ordinary girl and her brother, packed off to the Welsh mining valleys at the start of war and living through extraordinary events.

Nina Bawden’s award-winning book has been consistently voted one of the nation’s best-loved novels. Direct from the West End, this hugely successful stage adaptation brings to life Bawden’s heart-warming, funny and evocative tale in a beautifully-staged production.

Carrie’s War features a thirteen-strong cast and stars Brigit Forsyth who is well-known as the long-suffering Thelma in Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads? on television and who recently starred in Bath in Calendar Girls and Arsenic & Old Lace and Hannah Waterman who played Laura Beale in EastEnders and who won Just the Two of Us with Marti Pellow . She has recently been seen in Calendar Girls in the West End and on tour.

Like Carrie, Nina Bawden was herself a wartime evacuee to Wales. She went on to write over 40 novels including the Booker shortlisted Circles of Deceit and Family Money. Carrie’s War was first published in 1973. In 2004 she received the prestigious S.T. Dupont Golden Pen Award for a lifetime’s contribution to literature.
