This double Olivier Award-winning production turns Weimar Berlin of 1931 into a sassy, sizzling haven of decadence. At its heart is the legendary Sally Bowles, an English girl who performs nightly at the infamous Kit Kat Klub and falls in love with an American writer. But in spite of their efforts to ignore the real world, a wind of change is blowing through Europe that will change life forever…
Since its Broadway premiere in 1966 and the famous movie version, with Liza Minnelli, Michael York and Joel Grey, Cabaret has won a staggering number of stage and screen awards including 8 Oscars, 7 BAFTAs and 13 Tonys.
Cabaret was the first hit show by Kander and Ebb, the creators of Chicago. Featuring show-stopping choreography, dazzling costumes and some of the most iconic songs in musical theatre including Mein Herr, Maybe This Time and, of course, Cabaret, this is both a wonderful musical and a riveting piece of drama.
Director, Rufus Norris’s is currently directing Les Liaisons Dangereuses on Broadway. His credits also include Market Boy at the National Theatre and Festen, for which he was nominated for the Olivier Award for Best Director and won the Critics’ Circle Award for Best Director 2005 and the Evening Standard Award for Best Director 2004.
